Hal Schneider, Mary Anzalone and Ruby Lee Dove star in Jim Hickcox’s feature of Soft Matter.

This sci-fi film is a story of very strange researchers who are trying to wake an ancient sea creature while two graffiti artists break into a haunted facility. The artists do everything they can to not get caught up with the researchers but end up having to fight them off. The film almost has a Twilight Zone vibe to it which brings the audience to another dimension while watching.

Soft Matter definitely is one of the weirder movies out there with a scary twist. I am usually a fan of horror movies even sci-fi movies can keep my attention with the right storyline. However, this storyline was a bit too out of the box for me. I kept having to go back and re watch certain parts because I couldn’t get fully into it.

“Soft Matter” premiers on VOD May 22.
