It’s been an emotional roller coaster this entire season of This Is Us but, episode 16 comes with fun and exciting things. It starts off with a trip to Vegas for Kate and Toby’s bachelor/bachelorette parties.

Kate and Toby seemed to be a little nervous about their celebrations because they do not have many friends along for the trip. The Pearson brothers join Toby and Beth with Kate. They both discuss how they wish they could do their parties together but decided its best separate because they depend on each other too much. Kate helps Toby pick a suit and they share a very cute moment. Kate tries her best to enjoy her bachelorette but is overcome with some drama with the family.

On the other hand, we see Beth and Randall deal with the aftermath from Deja’s return. She showed up last episode asking for their help and asks for money for their electric bill. Randall offers to help her out more often and to not let anymore problems occur. Beth is so excited to enjoy her time in Vegas but with Randall so concerned with Deja, it is hard for her to let that happen. They have a big blow out and Randall says it is so easy for her to just disconnect from their problems whereas he struggles more with them. Kate expresses to Randall that Toby wanted to spend some quality time with the brothers Pearson which encourages Randall and Kevin to go take him out They share some nice moments speaking about their lives and get to bond a little.

In multiple flashbacks we see Rebecca and Jack celebrating years of marriage anniversaries. Throughout the years, Jack has always done big things for Rebecca to show her how special she is. The last year they show, Jack promises Rebecca he was not going to do anything crazy. However, the children decide to plan something for them which surprises them both. Rebecca says to Jack that he has officially created “mini Jack Pearson’s”. Their anniversary ends up being nice and romantic.

Beth expresses to Kate how upset she is that she got so attached to Deja and now she is gone. She is worried she isn’t getting the love and care she deserves while living with her mother. Beth and Randall decide to go see Deja after they get back from their trip. They come to find that the apartment Deja and her mother had been living in is now vacant. The ending scene is a heartbreaking moment for them as they see Deja and her mother sleeping in a car. I felt terrible for them to see this because they know they have so much to give to Deja and they want to help.

This Is Us premiers on Tuesdays 9/8c on NBC.
