In case you need to refresh your memory on what happened last season. In the very last episode of season 3 Daphne was almost arrested for vandalizing Wes’ property, but Bay jumped in to save the day. Feeling like she has nothing else to lose after being rejected from art school Bay takes the blame for Daphne’s wrong doings. Season 4 picks up right where season 3 leaf off. Daphne tells the family about Bay’s decision. To everyone’s surprise, John is glad that his daughter Bay took the fall for a crime she didn’t commit. Bay is now on house arrest and has to do community service for 87 days. Meaning she can no longer go to LA with Emmett. Emmett is having a hard time accepting that it will take a while for Bay to join him in LA. The next morning while Bay is at community service, Regina breaks the news to the Kennishes that she plans to move out soon. While at school Daphne bumps into Toby who gives her the cold shoulder and keeps giving excuses for why he hasn’t been around. Tired of her presence, Toby tells Daphne how upset he is at her for allowing Bay to take the fall for her crime. She argues that if she hadn’t she would have gone to prison and wouldn’t have made it to med school. At community service Bay runs into a girl who was arrested for DUI whose boyfriend is also doing community service. Bay tells her the story of how she trashed a construction site, but her new friend can tell she’s lying and brushes her off. Later on a girl named Marcy delivers lunch to Robbie and asks Bay to give it to him which she does. Bay in unaware that Robbie is a prison inmate and she has just become an accessory in a drug deal and gets 100 more days added on to her community service sentence. While signing up for classes, a chemistry teacher tells Daphne she must have an interpreter to enroll in her class. Daphne tells her that will be impossible to find one that is available in just a few days, but the teacher reassures her it is not impossible. Daphne’s new roommate Ivy is hearing, but can sign. She introduces her to her cousin John and Daphne asks him to be her chemistry interpreter. He angrily rejects saying he hates the teacher so much he wouldn’t step foot in her classroom. Emmett now even more upset about Bay having to stay in community service longer, lashes out at Daphne and tells her he’ll never forgive her. As he leaves for LA, Bay sits in her room sulking. Daphne walks in and tells her she’s not going to college, because she doesn’t want Bay to face this alone. But at this moment all Bay wants is to be left alone.
