listen_now2At a family meeting with Klaus and Rebekah, Elijah proposes a life-changing challenge for Rebekah – if she can go a whole day being human, she can have the cure. This infuriates Klaus. Caroline finds that her carefully laid plans for the perfect Senior Prom night are disrupted by Elena (who steals her dress), so she turns to an amused Klaus for a solution (which turns out to be a rather stunning replacement).

Determined to get through to Elena, Damon and Stefan both attend the prom with her and try to make her relive her emotional times. Unfortunately, they aren’t as good at it as Lexi was, and it only drives Elena to do something horrific – she attacks April.Matt turns to Rebekah for help, and she breaks her deal with Elijah to save April’s life. Matt says he won’t tell anyone, but Klaus saw and threatens Rebekah. At the same time, Rebekah is meeting Elijah and saying she succeeded. Elijah gives her the cure, before realising that it was actually Silas.

Tyler shows up at his former house and dances with Caroline. When he goes to leave, he’s confronted by Klaus. Klaus, wanting Caroline to have a happy night, gives Tyler a chance to run, which he takes. Klaus then returns home to find a letter from Katherine detailing that she’s tired of running from him, and offers him something else – a clue to a witch in New Orleans who plans to topple Klaus.

The main story this week focussed on Bonnie, her expression, and Silas. Appearing as a range of people from Stefan and Damon to Jeremy, he torments everyone. Bonnie’s magic eventually makes him leave, and she is then attacked by Elena. Unfortunately for Elena, Bonnie’s expression then takes over and Bonnie is barely stopped from killing Elena by Stefan and Damon, who vervain Elena and lock her up. They realise that she showed fear, an emotion, and plan to torment her into turning her humanity back on. The episode ends with Bonnie going to Silas, having realised that she’s out of control, and offering to do what he wants. In return, he shows her his real (and scarred, thanks to Quetzia) face.

It was a strong and very entertaining episode, which furthered both of the 2 main plots of the season. Kat Graham did an especially good job, and it was good to see Steven R McQueen and Michael Trevino again too. The set up for next week’s episode, and back door pilot for The Originals seemed a little rushed, but I’ll take it. I can’t wait to see it next week.
