Dead to RightsI’ve just had the pleasure of watching the latest episode of Arrow, ‘Dead To Rights’.

Oliver stops a hired gunman who comes to Starling City, but must enlist Felicity to decipher the assassin’s phone and determine who the target was. Chine White subcontracts Deadshot, who is revealed to have survived Oliver’s shot with an arrow, to take out Malcolm Merlyn after the previous gunman was stopped by the vigilante. Meanwhile, Malcolm asks Tommy to attend an award ceremony where Malcolm will be receiving a humanitarian award; after much reluctance, Tommy is pursuaded to attend by Oliver.

At the last moment, Oliver discovers that Malcolm is the target and races to the event to save him. Although he is almost caught by Detective McKenna (whom Oliver is now dating on the side), Oliver manages to get Malcolm away from China White’s men. While in an office, Malcolm is shot with one of Deadshot’s poison-tipped bullets, and Oliver is forced to reveal his identity to Tommy in order to secure his trust so that he can save Malcolm’s life, while both China White and Deadshot manage to escape again.

Afterward, Malcolm informs Moira that he believes someone from the organization attempted to kill him and entrusts her to identify the culprit… unaware that she is the one behind it. Tommy, grateful to Oliver, does not tell the police that Oliver is the vigilante green archer, but he also does not tell Oliver or anyone else of his father, Malcolm, being the Dark Archer (it’s unclear whether he actually saw it).

Elsewhere, Laurel is confronted by her mother, who reveals that her sister, Sarah, might be alive. During flashbacks on the island, Oliver is shown repairing a damaged radio from Slade’s downed aircraft, which Slade uses to tune into the radio communications of Fyers and his men to monitor their activities, and discovers that they have a new weapon that could start a war.

This was a brilliant episode, with China White returning fully, Alex Kingston being introduced as Laurel’s mother, and my personal favourite – the return of Flloyd Lawton (AKA Deadshot), new eye-gear and all. I really enjoyed it, and can’t wait for more after the break.

Thanks for reading.

“Crisis on Earth-X” Parts 3 & 4 – The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow

by Miranda Friel on December 5, 2017
This D.C. Universe crossover event with all four D.C. shows is huge. So much so that it takes two recaps covering four hours’ worth of television. Since there’s so much to cover, I’m going to jump right into covering the second half of the event (parts 3 and 4: The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow). […]

Crisis on Earth-X Part 1&2 – Supergirl and Arrow

by Amy McCracken on December 5, 2017
The episode starts on a completely different earth. Not Earth-Twelve or Earth-ThirtyFive or even Earth-TwoHundredAndThirtyFour, It was Earth X. It was a  world ran by Nazi’s. Where you see the Guardian fighting this masked man in a dark suit with a bow and arrow but the Guardian couldn’t win this fight.   On Earth-One there […]

Arrow “Tribute” Review

by Miranda Friel on October 24, 2017
Now that we know how everyone’s doing since the island explosions, Arrow is ready to jump right into the season. That all started with the bombshell of the premiere cliffhanger where someone has leaked a photo of Oliver as the Arrow. Episode two, “Tribute”, shows the team trying to deal with that. Oliver has an […]

Arrow “Fallout” Review

by Miranda Friel on October 19, 2017
As I’m sure everyone remembers, the season 5 finale of Arrow left us with a huge cliffhanger wondering who survived the explosions on the island. Now, I had faith that most, if not all, would survive, but that doesn’t mean I wasn’t any less disappointed with how they picked up season 6 five months later. […]
