Nikita, ‘The Sword’s Edge’

I’ve just had the pleasure of watching the latest episode of Nikita, ‘The Sword’s Edge’.

Listen to internet radio with The VRO on Blog Talk Radio

The title is apt, given the double-edged sword that has to be balanced this week. On one hand, there’s a rogue agent in charge of a foreign country, on the other, the President is threatening to pull the plug on Division (the shoot-first way). Meanwhile, news of the mole spreads to the key team, and Owen figures it out too before saving Alex’s life. They then figure out Owen was the target, and capture the suspect. It seems, however, that this person was not in league with Amanda. The rest of the team capture Markov (the rogue agent), but he reveals that he has a video with information on Division, as well as unveiling the President’s threat.

They let Markov go, and Nikita and Ryan have a massive falling out. They find another video of markov saying he’s killed the President (a pre-recording), and Birkhoff and Nikita stop Ryan from telling her. Instead, they hack the security, break in and stop him before he can do it, with Michael assuming his identity for a while, then faking his death with a scandal as well. They hold a team meeting with all key personnel (excluding Owen), asking whether they can still complete their mission of bringing Division down safely. Nikita says yes, and the episode ends with the camera showing each of them in turn.

It was another strong episode, with secrets revealed by all, and plenty of manipulation on both sides. It was great to see Birkhoff getting some more credit and a chance to show off his skills, and it was great to see the more emotional side of Owen too. I can’t wait for the next episode in a week to find out what will happen next. Will they find the mole (I still think my suspicion is right)? Will Amanda and Ari return again? Will Owen get his memory back? All will be revealed in time, I’m sure.

Thanks for reading.
