Comic Con 2010 – Day 1 2010

WOW. What a great day at Comic Con! We started our day VERY early to see the Tron Legacy panel in Hall H. Having see the panel last year, I was excited to see what more they had to offer this year. Garrett Hedlund and Jeff Bridges were amazing to see, as always. I was impressed with the clips, the special effects they have put into the production of this movie. Vids here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GQ_uReweoW0 and here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XYCQrGVUchs&feature=related

The line procedure differed from last year, I think that Comic Con was a bit overwhelmed with the Twilight fans for New Moon last year (me being one of them) and streamlined the line procedure this year. I was impressed, though the sheer number of attendees will always make it a bit of a chore to get to panels. The perils of attending such a huge and popular event.

From Tron we hurried to Charlaine Harris, and enjoyed a great panel where Charlaine gave us some insight into her characters and the story. I loved hearing her point of view on Sookie and her life with a town of vampires. She stated that she will never be having Sookie turned, something that has been argued about since her series came out. Nice to hear her official view on this point of contention. Vids here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1n0c-9sR5es here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rpz58WbT-2E and here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89WiDo63huc

We didn’t make Masters of the Web. We realized that we had to eat sometime. We skipped Visionaries as well, since I’m going to see Joss Whedon panel tomorrow.

Anti-Heroes was fun, seeing Dexter , Californication, Weeds, and Nurse Jackie (which is a fave of mine) was awesome. Sometimes you just feel like you have to root for the bad guy, even though you know you shouldn’t. The whole genre of shows featuring just that has exploded recently. This panel showcased the best of these shows. And David Duchovny and Michael C. Hall weren’t too bad to look at either.

I rushed out to go catch Geek Girls, and loved talking about us girls in the scene who are proud to be geeky. Kari Byron was my fave, she geeks out girly in a man’s element.

Amy hit the Dexter Panel and got some hot goodies for the next season. Not telling though…Seriously there is great vid of the panel here – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eC8BTjeV4hQ and here – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9BZvAlwiCdY

Since I have seen Dr. Horrible more times than I can count, we decided to forego it and have a nice dinner. We needed it to relax after our very full and fun day. After that we headed to the Hilton to see Lost Boys: The Thirst.

Let me preface this by saying that today Amy said if she got to do nothing else she wanted to see this. Earlier today she got the thrill of her life when she got to go to the WB’s autograph session and met Corey Feldman. I had to peel her off the floor. I can’t honestly say that the movie was amazing, but it sure was fun and we got some cool swag – a Lost Boys: The Tribe bandannas and little glowing vials of blood. All in all it was a cool night.

Now we are off to bed – another big day tomorrow!
