The CW has announced that they are canceling three of their dramas, two of them freshman programs to the network. The network officially canceled The Tomorrow People, Star Crossed, and The Carrie Diaries, which has been on the bubble for a while.
The network did however pick up their newest drama The 100 for a second season, and bubble shows Heart of Dixie and Beauty and the Beast survived the network’s cuts. Supernatural fans will also be disappointed to find out that the back door pilot episode for the spinoff Supernatural: Bloodlines was not picked up as a series.
The CW did however order 4 new dramas. One of them is the Arrow spin off The Flash. Another spinoff is coming in the Fall. The creator of Veronica Mars’ new show iZombie got picked up. The show is about a zombie girl that gets a job at a morgue so she can have access to brains, but when she consumes them she gains all their memories and uses them to solve murders. This series will run exclusively on CW Seed.
The two non-spinoffs coming to the CW in the Fall are titled Jane the Virgin and The Messengers. The former is about a young religious girl who accidentally becomes artificially inseminated. The latter is about a group of unconnected people who die when an unknown object crashes into Earth, and then realize they are destined to stop the oncoming apocalypse.
