On this episode of Riverdale, It begins with a recap of last episode where Betty is once again on the Black Masks string and has given him the name “Nick St. Clair.” This episode begins with Jughead writing his first article for the South Side school paper. Just then, Toni Topaz enters the living room asking Jughead, who is seated on his couch, if he would like some breakfast. Meanwhile, Betty (still in contact with the black mask) is seen opening the door to Nicks apartmentt. “You’re not safe here” said Betty trying to warn Nick that he and his family are all in danger. Just then Detective came in to bring Nick down to the station for questioning about the incident with Cheryl. After Betty leaves Nicks, she receives another phone call from the Black Mask. Betty tries to plea with him, and he later reveals during the phone call that Nick isn’t the real sin going on in Riverdale. Betty wondering why he made her give him a name, he says, “In that moment of nakedness, you let me see the real Betty.” Cheryl’s mom decides to not press any charges on Nick. Cheryl gets upset that Veronica won’t say anything about nick coming on to her but will try to get revenge through Cheryl’s case.
While Jughead and Toni sit at the diner the morning after the kiss, Toni says she doesn’t want to be a rebound for Jughead and that “she’s more into girls anyways.” Now Mrs. Cooper has brought together all friends and parents to discuss the party and how they got the the drugs, later concluding that it had to have come from the South Side. Jughead submitted his paper to his teacher who has also admitted that he knows Jughead committed his allegiance to the South Side Serpents. Now Mayor McCoy has raided South Side High School, all while Archie gets Jughead out of there right before his South Side Serpent members get put into handcuffs. Veronica later confides in Kevin about what Nick had tried to do to her. Betty gets another phone call from the Black Mask telling Betty that she will be going on a man hunt for the maker of the drugs, who is called “The Sugar Man” and is a known associate of the blossoms. Since the Sugar Man is a known associate of the Blossoms, Betty asks Cheryl if she remembers her parents talking about anyone named the Sugar Man. Cheryl (answering right away with no hesitation) says “yes”, but that her mother used it to scare them into being good children or “he would sneak into our rooms and whisk us away to never be seen again”, never mentioning it being a real person.
As Jughead is trying to get his friends out of jail, he doesn’t agree with how Tall Boy is handling the situation. Tall Boy then tells Jughead that he must decide as to whether accept the changes of the Serpents since his dad (FP Jones) isn’t around, or suffer the consequences.Veronica and Betty meet once again where Betty tells Veronica everything that has been going on. Betty asks for Veronica’s help in finding the Sugar Man, and Veronica says yes.
As Jughead doesn’t know what to do, him and Archie go to the only man they know that could help, his dad FP Jones. FP says that the only way for the South Side Serpents to gain control of the situation is to challenge the Ghoulies to a race, the winner reigns the school, the drug is gone, and the mayor would be off their backs.
Meanwhile, as Betty and Veronica continue their search for the ‘Sugar Man’, Veronica gets Reggie to give her the phone number to the drug dealer that gave him the drugs. Betty and Veronica follow the drug dealer, later being caught and stumbling in the middle of Jughead and Archie challenging the Ghoulies to a race. At the diner, Cheryl runs into Nick confronting him about what happened the night of the party. After deciding that she in fact wanted to press charges, Nick informs her that her mom accepted and arrangement with the St. Clair’s that she accepted a settlement. Betty and Jughead talk about their breakup. Veronica finds out from Cheryl that her parents were still doing business with the St. Clair’s, and decides to tell them that Nick tried to do the same thing to her that he did to Cheryl.
Now, let the race begin. As Jughead and Archie take off, Archie then decides it’s not worth it and pulls the brake. Just when Jughead was getting angry at Archie for what he did, they heard sirens. The police had pulled over and blocked the Ghoulies and were now headed to jail. Archie then admits that he called the cops. Cheryl’s mother reveals the identity of the ‘Sugar Man’ and Cheryl then tells Betty his identity. Betty, however, is debating whether giving up his name to the black mask is the right thing to do.
The Black Mask calls wanting his identity, but instead, Betty flips the table and says that she has given the name to the cops and will be publishing his identity on the blue and gold, therefore, he will have to find out who is he is then. She proceeds to tell the Black Mask that she will find out who is he as well.
The episode ends with the Sugar man being arrested. Who is he? No other than the teacher who was helping Jughead with his school paper, Robert Phillips. Just when you thought that was it, Veronica’s mother then reveals that the St. Clair’s were in a car wreck and that Nick will recover but it would be months and Veronica stating, “Oh well, Karma’s a bitch.”
Then the episode finally ends with one last bang (literally), the Black Mask shooting Robert Phillips (Sugar Man) in his cell.
