Arrow – #2.14 – Time of Death”
By Anna – 26 February 2014
We have a new villain in Starling City William Tockman aka The Clock King (Robert Knepper) who is a bank thief. This is also an episode where Felicity feels insecure with Sara joining Team Arrow and that she has a nemesis with Tockman forcing her to raise the level of her game. We also see how Laurel deals with having Sara back in the family.
We begin with William Tockman advising his team to steal a skeleton key which will enable him to unlock bank vaults and steal the money. He works from the security cameras and does everything by precision timing.
In the lair Oliver, Sara and Diggle are sparring while Felicity watches on. They then compare their scars from, knife, bullet, grenade, etc. Felicity is feeling a little left out.
Oliver is throwing Sara a welcome home party as it is a Queen family tradition.
Flashback to the island, Oliver, Sara and Slade are working on tactics to take over the freighter. They spot a plane but it explodes mid-air.
Tockman is not happy with his men for killing a security man and he kills them using a piece from a clock.
At the mansion the Lance family arrive for the welcome home party. Sara is greeted by Sin who is happy to see her but Sara acts as if she doesn’t know her. Oliver is not happy that Laurel is not coming to the party. Lance apologies to Oliver for all the years of what he thought of him.
Oliver and Sara are called away where they find the skeleton key.
Felicity is training in the lair punching the dummy when Sara arrives and gives her some pointers. Oliver arrives later and is surprised to see Felicity in training gear.
Lance goes to visit Laurel at her apartment and wants her to come back to the family. He wants a family dinner as he is thinking of reconciling with Dinah and wants to feel happy like they were as a family before the tragic events. Laurel agrees to hold the dinner.
On the island they find the crashed plane with the pilot still alive.
Tockman has organised a bank robbery but they are interrupted by the Arrow. Felicity’s transmission has been hacked by Tockman and has arranged for a bus and train to collide. Tockman doesn’t know that the Arrow is not working alone. So the Canary goes after Tockman while Arrow goes to stop the collision. Arrow stops the bus in time from colliding with the train. On the side of the bus is advertising for Devil Blue, another DC Comic character (hint). Tockman and his men get away with the money from the Canary.
At Verdant Thea is questioning Oliver if things are ok between him and Moira? She is noticing some tension.
Sara managed to get some of Tockman’s blood and analyses it. Felicity is feeling insecure in her worthiness for the Team as Sara can kick ass as well as analyse blood whereas it would normally have to be sent off to the lab plus she can use computers. Sara finds out that Tockman has Macgregor’s Disease a genetic defect and is stealing the money for his sister who needs a lung transplant. Arrow and the Canary go looking for Tockman. Tockman hacks into the lair’s network and fries the computers.
Oliver wants to set a trap for Tockman by placing his own funds in his bank’s vault to rob.
Diggle notices the tension Felicity is feeling. She tells Digg that she feels she is failing miserably in the one thing she was good at with her computers.
At the Lance family dinner Sara talks Oliver in to going with her. The dinner is strained especially as we learn that Dinah does not want to return back to Starling City. Dinah has found someone in her life back at Central City. Laurel picks up that Oliver and Sara are seeing each other and is quite angry about the situation. Oliver and Laurel have it out with each other. Oliver says he has stood by Laurel all these years and she is not the only one with family issues. He is still standing dealing with those issues but Laurel is still blaming everyone but herself for the problems. Oliver is done taking the blame, has loved Laurel for half his life but he is done running after her.
On the island Sara tries to save the pilot. She learns that he has a 12 year old daughter and asks Sara to look after her.
When Oliver returns to the lair we find Diggle and Sara wondering where Felicity is as she has been missing for several hours. Felicity phones Oliver to advise him that Tockman took the bait and that she is at Starling City Bank. Oliver is not happy with her being there. They get blocked in the bank from Tockman’s men to get Felicity out. Arrow goes to deal with them. In the meantime Tockman has released the gas main releases so Diggle goes off to fix it before it blows up. This leaves Felicity with the Canary to go after Tockman. They find Tockman who is about to shoot the Canary but Felicity pushes her out of the way taking a shot in the shoulder. Felicity finally outsmarts Tockman by uploading the same virus into his cell phone and electrocutes him.
Back at the lair, Sara stitches Felicity’s shoulder. She is pleased now that she will have her own scar. She is high on painkillers, oxycodone. Oliver confronts Felicity about her feelings that she is being a little left out. She denies it but she says “she used to be your girl .. I mean girl … not your girl” in her rambling way. Oliver says that she will always be her girl.
At Verdant Sara is working behind the bar mixing cocktails. Thea hired her to be the new bartender. Laurel arrives at Verdant to apologise to Sara and the sister’s makeup. Sin also turns up at Verdant. We learn that she is the 12 year old girl that Sara was asked to care for by the pilot and now sees her as her little sister.
On the island Oliver finds a way onto the freighter with a parachute.
Lance goes to an AA meeting and Laurel turns up to start her healing process.
Oliver is called home to the mansion after receiving a text from Thea for an emergency but it was only to get Oliver home to talk to his mother. Moira is having a meeting and Oliver is introduced to none other than Slade Wilson. The shock and surprise on his face that Slade is alive.
This will leave as into next week’s episode “The Promise”. So the showdown with Slade and Oliver begins.
